Congratulations to our talented Fellow member, Sarah Gardner, who had the opportunity to design the cover for de Jager Bulbs Spring Retail Catalogue, following her graduation from the Distance Learning Diploma Course last year. Sarah personally cultivated the stunning Begonias featured in the catalogue right in her own garden, thanks to the tubers supplied by de Jager. Studying these plants up close allowed her to capture their breathtaking colours and textures. As a newcomer to commercial botanical work, Sarah expresses her deep gratitude to the SBA and de Jager Bulbs for this incredible opportunity to gain valuable experience in the world of botanical art. A special thanks to Sandra Wall Armitage PPSBA for providing invaluable mentorship during the design stage. Sandra has continued this tradition… Read more
Congratulations to SBA Fellow Jackie Isard, whose beautiful painting of Cardamine pratensis has found a new home in the Shirley Sherwood Collection! From Shirley Sherwood’s Facebook page: Jackie has done such a magnificent job at capturing the delicate flower here, with detailing of the separate components of the plant at the foot of the page. The painting was part of a series of wildflowers and their pollinators which she displayed at the RHS Botanical Art and Photography Show this year, with which she impressed the judges and won a gold medal- well done Jackie! It’s wonderful to have Jackie’s work in the Shirley Sherwood Collection and we can’t wait to see what she paints next.
