Jardin Massart

Annie Cassez, SBA Fellow has recently been busy working for a Belgian agency in charge of advertising the re-opening and centenary of the Massart garden, one of the oldest and most interesting botanical gardens in Belgium. This important garden was established in 1922 for the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) by botanist Jean Massart and landscape architect Jules Buyssens. Annie made drawings of plants and everyday modern objects to show an interesting mix of the contemporary and the old and these fabulous posters are being shown all over Brussels. The sponsors are ‘Bruxelles environment’. massart E Jardin Massart

Petal Moments

Nicola Lynch Morrin SBA Fellow, has an exhibition called Petal Moments, on now until the 31st May. It is on at the Séamus Ennis Arts Centre, Dublin, Ireland. Nicola creates portraits of flowers which she sees, not as mere decoration, but as distinct personalities. Their mystery and evocative power are a secret world she strives to penetrate. Her flower portraits attempt to capture and celebrate the delicacy, transparency, and transitory effects of petal moments.  This allows the viewer to contemplate the fragility and continual beauty of life itself.
