On Friday the 19th May, the DLDC celebrated the graduation ceremony for Course 18. Congratulations to all the students for completing their journey through the course. There were 48 diplomas awarded, 22 of which were distinctions. We had a lovely evening at the Mary Ward rooms in Russell Square, London where the graduates were presented with their diplomas and some were awarded with prizes too. Many of the diploma pieces were on show at the SBA’s exhibition Plantae 23 at the Mall Galleries. Here are a few photos of the evening and some of the wonderful student work on display.
‘Ladybirds’ and ‘Purple Rain’ are two of three watercolour and gouache paintings that Sarah Wood SBA Fellow has had selected to be shown at the RI (Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours) 211th Exhibition, held at the Mall Galleries, London. The exhibition is open from Thursday 30th March, 10am to 5pm daily, and closes on Saturday 8th April 2023 at 5pm.
Our open annual exhibition was a great success, with good visitor numbers and sales. Our DLDC (distance learning diploma course) had a fantastic display there with such a high standard of work from our graduates. The students also had a guided trip to the Chelsea Physic Garden in London and then Course 17 had its graduation ceremony in the evening. Congratulations to all our students. It’s been a busy week!!
Congratulations to Julia Patience, SBA Fellow and council member, who has had a painting accepted by the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours at their exhibition at the Mall galleries, London. It’s on soon from 14th April – 23rd April. The painting is called ‘Moroccan Garden’, it measures 70cm x 47cm and it’s in watercolour and ink.

This is to inform you that as well as ‘hand in’ being cancelled, the gallery has closed until further notice. We do not know what this means for our show, Plantae 2020. Right now it is hard to envisage the show going ahead as so much has to happen before it, but we are just not in a position to say much. So we won’t! We have no more information right now, so are really unable to answer questions, not least as many of us are holed up with vulnerable relatives and or trying to sort out other urgent arrangements. We are thinking of all our… Read more
