The RHS, like so many organisations and charities everywhere are having to face hardtimes, closing up venues, cancelling shows and adhering to strict guidelines. But looking forward, hopefully the London RHS Botanical Art & Photography Show, in April 2021, will be able to still go ahead at another venue in London. Shirley Sherwood is keeping busy during the lockdown at her home; She is going to be filmed telling stories about all 1,020 paintings in the Shirley Sherwood Collection. The videos will be posted on her website so be sure to tune in and find out more about her wonderful collection. This Sunday – 1st March, there is a ‘Botanical Art Surgery’ at the Shirley Sherwood Gallery in Kew Gardens, with Deborah Lambkin, who specializes in painting orchids. The SBA Distance Learning Diploma Course held its Introductory Seminar for students of Course 17 at the Art Workers Guild in London last weekend. It is always exciting to meet the students! Course Director Simon Williams welcomed everyone, and tutors Penny Brown, Susan Hillier and Shevaun Doherty were there to demonstrate techniques and to give out useful tips on completing artwork. A big thank you to Pam Henderson, SBA secretary for organising such a great day!! Everyone went home smiling and feeling inspired!!
