The artists have now been chosen for the Flora of Southeast Asia exhibition organised by the Botanical Art Society of Singapore. It will be at the Singapore Botanical Gardens starting in November this year and open over winter. There are a few Fellow artists from the SBA that have been chosen including Deborah Montgomerie, Henny Herawati, Icka Gavrilla, and Sunanda Verma Widel. There are a few DLDC graduates also including Waiwai Hove, and Angelina Cheong. Congratulations to all, it looks like it will be a wonderful show.
Our open annual exhibition was a great success, with good visitor numbers and sales. Our DLDC (distance learning diploma course) had a fantastic display there with such a high standard of work from our graduates. The students also had a guided trip to the Chelsea Physic Garden in London and then Course 17 had its graduation ceremony in the evening. Congratulations to all our students. It’s been a busy week!!
Registrations for one of Australia’s most prestigious botanical art exhibitions, ‘The Art of Botanical Illustration’ (TABI), are now open. The 16th biennial exhibition of TABI hosted by the Friends of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne (FRBGM), will be held from 17 September – 2 October 2022. It will be a hybrid exhibition, presented in the Galleries of Domain House, Melbourne and as a virtual exhibition, online. TABI 2022 will be a highlight of the Friends of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne 40th anniversary celebrations. In addition, TABI 2022 will coincide with the 7th Global Botanic Gardens Congress, being hosted by the Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria (RBGV). Congratulations to Julia Patience, SBA Fellow and council member, who has had a painting accepted by the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours at their exhibition at the Mall galleries, London. It’s on soon from 14th April – 23rd April. The painting is called ‘Moroccan Garden’, it measures 70cm x 47cm and it’s in watercolour and ink.
The RHS Botanical Art and Photography Show 2022 is on right now at the Saatchi Gallery.
