The Scottish Society of Botanical Artists exhibition has now opened and is on until 10th October, at the Frames Gallery in Perth. Fellow member Jackie Isard has two paintings hanging. It’s great to see a ‘real’ exhibition taking place in these times. Check out the wonderful exhibition here..
Join gardener, writer and broadcaster, Matt Biggs, for an evening talk exploring the contribution that the RHS made to the Dig for Victory campaign. From the back garden to the public park, Matt will bring to life the stories of the gardeners who came together to feed the nation during WW2. Best known from his appearances on BBC Radio 4’s Gardeners’ Question Time, Matt is also the author of numerous books on gardening and gardening history. The talk will take place in the RHS Lindley Library and includes the opportunity for a late evening viewing of the public library and the Library’s current exhibition Dig for Victory: Gardening to Feed a Nation. A fascinating exhibition celebrating Irish botanist, Ellen Hutchins, is currently on at the Library Reading Room at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, London. Ellen’s story reveals how important botanical illustration was (and still is) to botanists, and the significant part that her correspondence played in botany in the nineteenth century. Discover the legacy that she left from her short life told through her beautiful drawings of seaweeds, letters, and plant finds in botanical books of the early 1800s. The exhibition has been extended until 22nd November, it is free and open Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm.
