Rory McEwen: Nature’s Song

The Garden Museum, London (@gardenmuseum) will present Rory McEwen: Nature’s Song from 8 October 2025 – 25 January 2026. 🌿
Celebrating one of the 20th century’s greatest botanical painters, this exhibition will feature 50 botanical paintings, sculptures, experimental works, and personal items that reveal McEwen’s unique creative process.
Known for blending scientific precision with modern creativity, McEwen transformed botanical art into something poetic and contemporary. His luminous works of flowers, leaves, and decaying plants changed the course of botanical painting and inspired a new generation of artists.

Congratulations to SBA Fellow Florence Gendre whose first solo exhibition opened on May 6th in Gimont, France. “My passion for drawing and plants… A work of research and intimacy with flowers, seeds, and trees. A selection of botanical watercolors, graphite pencil illustrations and excerpts from sketchbooks made during my travels are presented. The expression of a magnified nature where I like to play with the scales of reproduction. Through a set of naturalistic drawings, you will be able to learn about the plants of the Ennedi desert in Chad. Botanical Painting in Greece

Shevaun Doherty PSBA and Margaret Fitzpatrick SBAF are once again holding a botanical painting course in Greece – ‘Painting spring wildflowers and orchids’. The venue is the Lagou Raxi Country Hotel in the heart of South Pelion. The dates are 22 to 29 April 2023. The programme includes an introduction to vellum and other special techniques as well as excursions and plant and flower collecting and identification.
