The RHS Botanical Art and Photography Show is finally on! Yesterday was the preview of the show, and we were blown away by the quality of the work! Congratulations to SBA Members Karen Bailey (awarded Silver-Gilt for her Gentiana paintings), Caroline Jackson-Houston (awarded Silver-Gilt for her paintings of Mycorrhizal fungi of the Thames Valley Area), Nina Marks (awarded Silver-Gilt for her Gin- flavoured Botanicals) and Janet Pope (awarded Silver for her Solanum tuberosum paintings). A Gold medal went to the Russian Botanical Artists Group Exhibit. We were delighted to see some of our Plantae exhibitors amongst the group, and look forward to welcoming a few to the SBA as Fellow Members in the near future. A sincere and heartfelt congratulations to ALL the artists whose hard work and dedication make this such an inspiring show.
Coinciding with the exhibition is the launch of Charlotte Brooks book, RHS Botanical Illustration- The Gold Medal Winners. Some of our members have work that features in the book- Gael Sellwood, Angeline de Meester, Sue J. Williams and Caroline Jackson-Houston. An exhibition of Gold medal paintings from the book is being held at the Lindley Library.
