Flowers from the Andean cloud forest in colour pencil
Pleurothallis apopsis is an endemic orchid from Ecuador found in the cloud forests of the Eastern Andes at elevations of 3200 to 3700 meters. It is considered vulnerable. Aetanthus nodosus is an hemi-parasitic plant wih stunning tubular flowers native to Colombia, Ecuador and Perú. It grows in the cloud forests at altitudes ranging from 1450 to 3900 meters. I chose both of them because they are opposites, the orchid is almost always hidden while the other flower with its vivid colours is visible hanging from the branches of host trees.
