The Society of Botanical Artists is delighted to announce that our first guest speaker in our series of online talks will be Lucy T Smith. The talk will take place Thursday 3rd February 2022 19.00 – 20.00 GMT. Lucy T Smith is an Australian botanical artist and illustrator, resident for the past twenty years in the UK. Since 2000, she has worked as a freelance botanical artist for the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, producing botanical illustrations in both pen and ink, and watercolour. She has received many awards for her artwork, including the Jill Smythies Award for Botanical Illustration (Linnean Society), two gold medals from the Royal Horticultural Society, and First Prize (twice) in the Margaret Flockton Award for Botanical Illustration. Jacksons Paintings Prize 2022

Jackson’s Art Supplies have announced the launch of the seventh international Jackson’s Painting Prize 2022. You can now submit entries into the painting categories and there is one for botanical art. There are some great prizes and the Press Release can be viewed here. Submissions close on the 1st of March so there’s plenty of time to plan.

To join you will need your very best five pieces of work as well as a written artist statement and CV.Just login HERE and our straightforward process will be right in front of you, where you can upload your images and give us the rest of the information about you as a potential fellow of our society.  Maximum image size is 8 MB and you should send us the best quality images that you can supply.
