Iceni Botanical Artists’

Iceni Botanical Artists are delighted to be exhibiting their work in the Lady Chapel, Ely Cathedral this Autumn. The theme – “Celebrating the life of Queen Etheldreda: Herbals and Harvest – relates to the Cathedral’s own celebration of 1350 years since St. Etheldreda first established a monastery in Ely in AD 673.  The exhibition, which runs from 29th September until 13th October, will not only feature paintings related to Etheldreda, but herbs from the Cathedral’s recently planted Physic Garden, and  Harvest Festival which is happening at the same time. Formed in 2010, Iceni Botanical Artists’ highly talented membership currently stands at 29, and includes several nationally distinguished award winning artists in the field.  All its members live in either Norfolk, Suffolk or Cambridgeshire and painting… Read more

Aldeburgh Gallery

Guy William Eves SBAF and a tutor on the SBA DLDC (Distance Learning Diploma Course) has an exhibition coming up this month at the Aldeburgh Gallery in Suffolk. His beautiful graphite collection will be on show, including his work ‘The Yew Tree’ which was seen at Plantae 2023 in June and won the first prize of our John Waterman Award. The dates are 24 to 30 August 2023 at Aldeburgh Gallery 143 High Street, Aldeburgh, Suffolk – be sure to visit if you’re in the area.  

Pittenweem Arts Festival

SBA Fellow Marianne Hazlewood has an exciting summer ahead! If you are planning a trip to Scotland, these exhibitions are worth checking out! She will be exhibiting her work at the , which has been running since 1982. Pittenweem is tucked away on the Fife coast and has been a festival hub for artists each August, attracting visitors year after year. As well as showing in galleries, artists show in fishermens’ cottages, basements, fishing sheds… wherever there is an available space! This year she will be showing alongside silversmiths Tracy Wilson and Claire Roche. Along with some new botanical works, art prints and cards, she is also exhibiting new surface design work, taking motifs from some of her botanical watercolour pieces and ink illustrations, and… Read more

a gardener’s paradise

Janie Pirie SBA Fellow has a solo exhibition coming up in Hadleigh, Suffolk with a preview on the 21st July at 6.30 pm. The exhibition will be free to enter and open for two consecutive weekends but not during the week. You will be able to see what she has been producing in her studio for the past three years. Janie will be in residence on both Saturdays, giving demonstrations on how she works in coloured pencils and achieves her finished pictures.
