Yvonne was born in South Australia, and grew up in a rural area where from an early age, with the freedom to explore its rich flora, she developed an abiding love of plant life and a habit of amateur botanising.
She has spent the majority of her adult life in England, and for many years her large garden in Wiltshire has allowed her to indulge her interest in growing a wide range of plants. A detailed study of plants of special interest to her, and watercolour portraits of them, became a natural progression.
A largely self -taught artist, she has exhibited with the Society of Botanical Artists since 1995 and gained membership in 1998. She has been awarded Certificates of Botanical Merit for work exhibited with the Society in 1996, 2000 and 2008. She was awarded the Royal Horticultural Society’s Silver -gilt medal in 2008. The Royal Horticultural Society’s Lindley Library and Dr Shirley Sherwood’s Gallery at Kew, have examples of her work.
She has been a tutor of the Society of Botanical Artists’ Distance Learning Diploma Course since its inauguration.
