Biography
NICOLA LYNCH-MORRIN is an Irish artist and printmaker. She is a graduate of the National College of Art and Design, Dublin and a member of the Graphic Studio Dublin, The Water Colour Society of Ireland, The Irish Society of Botanical Artists, The Dublin Painting & Sketching Club and Visual Artists Ireland. Nicola has served on the Board of Directors of the Graphic Studio Dublin and as Honorary Treasurer of The Water Colour Society of Ireland.
Nicola’s work has its origins in where she lives – her surroundings, her garden. It is inspired by the natural world – its beauty, its hospitality, its contrasts, its surprises. She creates portraits of flowers. She sees flowers not as mere decoration but as distinct personalities. She works in a close-up realist mode, magnifying her subject which is characterized by meticulous attention to detail and an intense richness of colour. Despite an adherence to realism her work reaches beyond superficial appearances to imply hidden narratives.
Nicola is a regular exhibitor in many group exhibitions at home and abroad including the RHA (Royal Hibernian Academy) and the RUA (Royal Ulster Academy). She has had eight successful solo exhibitions and has won many prestigious awards and residencies. Her work is included in the Irish and British Government’s Collection.
