Biography

Bachelor´s degree in Biology from the Autónoma University, Madrid.

She studied for four years as a post-graduate, at the fine Arts Faculty in Madrid, completing her arts training with three more years study at drawing academies and at the C.E.V. (Centre for Video and Image Studies). She studied graphic design at the C.I.C.E. (Professional school of new technologies)

Since 1987 she has worked at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Madrid, illustrating for publications the aquatic plants of several regions of Spain and in some volumes of the Iberian flora.

Since 1998, she has been a member of “The Society of Botanical Artists”, UK.

She won a Royal Horticultural Society Gold Medal, in February 1999.

She won The SBA Margaret Stevens Award and The Certificate of Botanical Merit, in May 2010.

She works as an artist (Lucia Mendoza Gallery, Madrid) and as a graphic designer.

She leads Botanical Drawing Workshops at the Royal Botanical Garden, Madrid, since 2011, and she has taught too, at the  Jardín Botánico Atlántico de Gijón, The Juan Carlos I University and private courses.
