Lynne Uptin

.

Biography

Trained at the National Art School Sydney, Lynne was a leading illustrator in Sydney for 13 years before owning and opening two art galleries, a ceramic and a glass art studio there. In Tasmania, Lynne was Director of Arts Tasmania for 20 years and was awarded an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in 2010 for services to arts administration.

As resident of the Australian island State, Tasmania, her interests are particularly in distinctive Gondwanan plants that were isolated as Tasmania broke away from Antarctica 40 million years ago. Her studio and garden overlook the D’Entrecasteaux Channel, providing a continuous source of inspiration for her work, as do botanical journeys around Australia in her Gondwana mobile studio.
