Biography

I studied Graphic Design at Canterbury College of Art and enjoyed a career in both design and further education. I am now enjoying life as a full time artist.

Having successfully completed the Society’s distance learning diploma course, I predominantly work on botanical subjects, though not exclusively. I also print and enjoy the discipline of life drawing, working with different media, scale and time frames. Observational drawing underpins and informs everything I do, from rapid figure drawings to time intensive botanical studies.

I have always been drawn to pattern and structure and prefer to concentrate on the gnarled shapes of plants as they enter their seed cycle and reveal linear skeletal forms. I favour pencil & ink when I want to highlight form and watercolour when the soft melodies of colour have the strongest appeal for me.

I was delighted to be Highly Commended for The Joyce Cumming Presentation Award at the 2015 Annual Exhibition.
