After a long career as a Neuroscientist, I began life as a full time artist in 2009, working from my home studio in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia. Botanical subjects in parks, gardens and bushland soon became some of my favourites.
My strong motivation is to interpret the fascinating shapes and textures of Australian native and exotic plants in larger-than-life drawings using mainly coloured pencil. My aim is to lure the viewer to closer inspection and respect for the world around them. I have a particular interest in discovering and drawing plants endemic to South Australia, some of which I have introduced to my home garden, providing an excellent source of botanical art material!
I have exhibited in solo and group exhibitions within Australia since 2009 and have been selected as finalist in many local and national art prizes. I won the Madeleine Taylor Award for Best in Show from the Botanical Art Society of Australia in 2019, and in 2022 my work was acquired by the National Herbarium of Victoria. I am a member of the Botanical Art Society of Australia, the American Society of Botanical Artists, and a Fellow Member of the Society of Botanical Artists.
