Biography

Hege is a botanical artist and illustrator from Sogndal, a small town in Western Norway. She studied textiles at Grey’s School of Art in Aberdeen and at Bergen Academy of Art and Design. In addition to being a botanical illustrator, she is currently working as anassociate professor of art and design at Western Norway University of Applied Sciences.

 From an early age she has found inspiration in nature and especially plants. After working as a teacher and textile artist she therefore decided to specialize in botanical art. She has undertaken courses at the Royal botanical Garden, Kew, and received her Diploma from the SBA DLDC in 2020. 

Hege’s main interests is native plants and wildflowers. She aims to produce botanical accurate illustrations with an attention to detail and a personalised style. Shemainly works from live specimens and enjoys learning all she can about the plants she is drawing.  Her main technique is watercolour, but she also does graphite, and pen and ink work. 

Her work includes illustrations for both books and scientific publications, and she has had several exhibitions in Norway. She has also participated in several of SBA’s Plantae exhibitions at the Mall Galleries in London.
