Elizabeth Hellman

Biography

Elizabeth initially studied art at Brighton University, but has more recently gained a Diploma in Botanical Painting with the Society of Botanical Artists in which she achieved a Distinction.

She paints in oils and watercolours.  Elizabeth’s watercolour paintings are delicate and detailed, and can take many days to complete.  She uses layers of colours, with both dry and wet techniques.

For her oil paintings, initially Elizabeth paints in monochrome, and then adds thin layers of colour.  This creates depth, a velvety texture, and rich and vivid colours.  Each painting is built up slowly over a number of weeks and may take several months to finish.

Elizabeth is published by King and McGaw Fine Art Printers, Oberon Arts Ltd. and Medici Fine Art.  She regularly exhibits with the Society of Botanical Artists and has exhibited several times during the Brighton Festival, and with the Attic Club in Ditchling, Sussex.
