Biography
It seems that all of my life I have been in involved in making art. After seventh grade, I totally immersed myself in art. I was accepted to study at the Applied Art School, Sofia Bulgaria, from 1985-1990. From 1991-1997 I studied printmaking in the MFA program at the National Academy of Fine Arts “Nikolai Pavlovich”, Sofia, Bulgaria. In 1999-2001 I graduated and received MFA at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia, and USA.
My initial interest in botanical drawing began in the Summer of 2018 when I fell in love with drawing flowers. I realized that I had found my true passion. Since then I have been drawing and painting exclusively plants and other nature based forms.
I approach my botanical compositions by choosing subjects that are appealing to me. Paintings are begun observationally and most of the time are finished with the aid of photographs. My media is watercolor on paper. I use mostly transparent colors, and my favorite brands are Daniel Smith and Holbein. My palette is very rich in colors and I love exploring new colors. I am inspired by old masters, contemporary artists and primarily by nature‘s rich colors and beauty. My dreams are to keep painting the beauty of nature and expand my horizons with new opportunities where I can share my botanical art.
