Biography
Anna is entirely self-taught and began botanical painting in 2006 when she was in her mid-twenties. Just 18 months later she won an RHS Gold Medal and Best in Show award and a year after that she quit her day job to paint full time, exhibiting regularly at the Chelsea Flower Show. Her paintings are held in the Shirley Sherwood and Lindley Library collections as well as many private collections around the world.
Her style is bold, vibrant and very realistic. Always working in watercolour, Anna usually enlarges her subjects for impact and loves to choose compositions that place the viewer ‘up close and personal’ with them, forcing them to take in the beautiful details they would otherwise miss.
Anna also loves motivating others to pick up their brush and have a go. She teaches regularly with RHS Wisley and in the US, has a book, ‘The Modern Flower Painter’, and has her own online School where she teaches hundreds of students around the world via video tuition.
