Alison Douglas

Since childhood I have had a passionate interest in illustration, particularly watercolour, and following a number of decades devoted to a career in Advertising and raising a family, I aspired to indulge my lifelong desire to paint. I have always been inspired by botanical art, particularly the plantsmen and women of the past. My other passion is nature and so it was a natural progression to pursue both. I am particularly interested in the local flora of my area and am currently working on a series of wild flowers. I hope to present a body of this work recording the plants along the coastal path that I enjoy on my daily walks in this beautiful, wild, unspoilt area. I am constantly amazed by the beauty of this indigenous plantlife and hope to promote it’s beauty and relevance with my work.

I am in the early stage life as a botanical artist and am working towards a collection of illustrations with a view to exhibitions and awards. Each day is one of looking and learning on a path that I hope leads to creating and sharing my work with a wider audience.
