Biography
I was born in 1990 in Yaroslavl (Russia) and worked as a structural steel engineer. In 2014 as a hobby, I decided to go to art school, and in 2018 I started to paint watercolour botanicals after Svetlana Lanse’s course. Now I’m a full-time botanical artist, living in Hungary.
Botanical painting helps me to feel closer to nature in our man-made, mechanical century. This is a meditation and an escape from the madness of the outside world.
In botanical art I admire the beauty of the artistic image of the plant, the incredibly fine work and details. I like to paint dramatic or unusual plants. I grow many plants at home and in the garden and create images of different stages of growth. I think that growing plants from small seeds helps to understand the object better because the plant is observed everyday so that the growing cycles are witnessed and observed.
I’m a Member of the Russian Botanical Artists Society (SABA) since 2020 and an SBA fellow since 2023.
