Janet studied Art to A’Level, then continued to paint and draw as a hobby for many years. As a keen gardener with an interest in all things floral she started to paint flowers in watercolour and it seemed a natural progression to paint botanically. Following several courses at West Dean College she joined the Diploma Course in Botanical Illustration with Anne Marie Evans at the English Gardening School, Chelsea Physic Garden, London and gained the Diploma with Credit in 1998.
Janet first exhibited with the Society of Botanical Artists in 2000 and in 2001 became a member and was awarded a Certificate of Botanical Merit.
In 2007 one of Janet’s paintings was selected by the Hardy Plant Society to be exhibited and reproduced for their 50th Birthday Celebrations.
Janet is also a member of the Botanical Art Society of Sussex and has exhibited with them at Wakehurst Place and other venues in Sussex.
As well as watercolour painting, she enjoys pen and ink work and provides illustrations in this medium for the Hardy Plant Society.
Janet is a tutor for the Society’s Distance Learning Diploma Course.
