A professional artist and teacher for 25 years, Janet specialises in flowers and landscapes in watercolour and pencil. She exhibits regularly with the SBA at the Westminster Galleries and also has work accepted by the Institute of Watercolour Painters at the Mall Galleries. She is a member of the Society of Floral Painters with whom she exhibits at Mottesfont Abbey and other venues.
Several of her paintings have been published as fine art prints and many of her floral paintings are published as greeting cards throughout the British Isles, USA and Europe.
Her first book How to Draw and Sketch Landscapes was published in 2002 followed by another book Painting Flowers and Plants by Search Press and a video with the same title is also available from Teaching Art. The book Janet Whittle’s Watercolour Flowers was released in 2007, and her latest How to Draw Flowers was released in June 2008 also by Search Press.
She has had articles published in the International Artist Magazine and Leisure Painter and her work is included in many other art books. As a qualified teacher she has taught workshops both at home and abroad for 25 years, and now runs monthly workshops in her home village of Barrowby, Grantham, Lincolnshire, and weekend workshops at the Lincolnshire Gallery, Spalding.
