Anita was born in Den Haag where she still lives, holding the prestigious position of Head of the Art Department and scientific illustrator of the ‘Nationaal Herbarium Nederland’, part of the Universiteit Leiden. As part of her job, she organizes exhibitions in The Netherlands and abroad, and gives many workshops. Recently she founded the Dutch Society of Botanical Artists.
Anita has exhibited for many years throughout The Netherlands, France, USA and the UK and her work is held in many private collections including the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation, and New York State Museum Albany. Her work has been selected for inclusion in The Highgrove Florilegium, presently being created under the umbrella of The Prince of Wales’s Charitable Foundation to celebrate and record in a permanent way the Flora in the garden at High grove.
Working in oil, watercolor and pen and ink, Anita says that nature forms her source of inspiration, she has a great love for detail, expression of texture and symbolism.
