Audrey was born and educated in Yorkshire but has spent most of her married life in Salisbury. When her children were old enough she trained as a teacher and worked full time until 1981. She then followed her keen interest in art and flowers and, after instruction and encouragement from artist John Wilkinson, began to exhibit her work locally and nationally.
She was elected a member of the Society of Botanical Artists in 1991 and Society of Floral Painters at its launch in 1996. She was awarded the St Cuthberts Mill Award, and a Certificate of Botanical of Merit at S.B.A. exhibitions, and the Presidents Trophy at a S.F.P. exhibition. The Hunt Institute of Botanical Documentation, U.S.A. selected one of her pictures for their collection.
Her work has been reproduced in a number of publications including The Origin of Plants, A History and Dictionary of British Flower Painters and The Art of Botanical Painting.
At present she is illustrating sixty plates for Harper Collins Wild Flower Guide due for publication in May 2008. She also tutors day courses for students of all abilities at The Sir Harold Hillier Gardens and Arboretum, Romsey, and at Sarum College, The Close, Salisbury.
