Libby Carreck SBA
Biography
Libby has a Degree in Fashion and Textile Design from Ravensbourne College of Art. She worked in textile design in London before moving to the Middle East and then the Caribbean. There she began painting the local flora and on returning to England she began etching. Combining her love of colour with her passion for flowers, plants and natural forms Libby has produced many etchings and watercolours. These she exhibits in several galleries including the SBA where she was elected a member in 2001.
Libby has exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, the Royal West of England Academy and the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers. She is also a member of the Greenwich Printmakers and the Southbank Printmakers. Her work has sold in Australia, Canada, Europe, Russia, USA, the Caribbean and Japan.
Libby has contributed to two books on watercolour techniques and produced two limited edition etchings for the P&O liner Aurora. Her prints have been published as cards by Woodmansterne. Her watercolour Phalaenopsis won the St.Cuthberts Mill Prize in 2008 and is reproduced on the cover of The Botanical Palette by Margaret Stevens. She is also a tutor on the SBA Distance Learning Course.
