Biography

Jill Winch initially trained as a graphic artist but in later years decided to return to college to study botanical painting. This enabled her to understand the plants, flowers, fruits and vegetables that she loved and to depict them in a variety of mediums.

Since Jill's initial studies she has attended the Chelsea Physic Garden where she gained her Diploma in Botanical Painting. From there she went on to attain her certificate in teaching mature students in Adult Education.

Jill exhibits at the Society of Botanical Artists exhibition each year and has recently become an Associate Member.

Jill regularly tutors at the Burren Painting Centre near Galway, Ireland. She also holds painting holidays in Lucca, Tuscany and Madingley, Cambridge. She will also be tutoring weekend courses at the beautiful Missenden Abbey in Buckinghamshire.

She currently holds classes in her studio at home in Hertfordshire, students are taught how to draw and paint botanical subjects but are also encouraged to develop their own individual style.

She describes where she lives as a botanical artist’s dream, where local people grow and produce the many wonderful plants and vegetables that have given her the inspiration for her creative paintings.
