Anne Girling

Biography

Anne was born in Birmingham and graduated from the University of Sheffield with a degree in Physiology. After having a family she pursued a career within the NHS working in London and Bristol.

Anne has always had an interest in art and craft and has experimented in a variety of mediums, in particular stained glass. Moving to Bristol in the 90s she undertook a beginner’s course in graphite and watercolour as a means to improving her stained glass design. She rapidly became engrossed in both graphite and botanical art and after seeing colour pencil images at the SBA exhibition was inspired to work in this medium. Her preference is for bold lines and forms but it is the fascinating complex detail of nature that holds her interest.
